This program was developed in order to offer assisted living staff an opportunity to receive in-depth, detailed education on how to optimize operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. It is an appropriate follow-up training to and can be viewed as an extension of, the popular and highly-acclaimed Mass-ALA Boot Camp. Where Boot Camp leaves off after providing a general overview of operations and regulatory compliance, QA/QI Training picks up and offers a deeper dive into implementing quality improvement initiatives and quality assurance measures. This training, along with the implementation of those measures, can also be an effective approach to help assisted living residences prepare for EOEA recertification surveys.
The “tool,” which was designed for easy use at any size/type of assisted living residence, provides a framework to conduct self-evaluations on a regular basis and provides suggested indicators of quality and regulatory compliance. It offers assisted living residences a blueprint – a step-by-step illustration to identify areas that may need further investigation and possible improvement, which can be the springboard for plans for improvement to be developed and implemented by staff. The regular use of the tool can be effective in developing an organizational culture committed to quality standards.
